Having been removed from hosting the 8 p.m. news on France 2, which she had hosted since 2017, Anne-Sophie Lapix will join the M6 Group in the fall, according to a press release from the latter. "The M6 Group is pleased to announce the arrival of Anne-Sophie Lapix as of the start of the school year," it reads.

The latter will notably host the "6-8 p.m." slot on RTL radio, replacing Yves Calvi. Anne-Sophie Lapix will also be on M6, and will host "a major Sunday interview every week with a personality who is in the news." The presenter, feared for her political interviews, will also be in charge of "prime-time specials on M6 devoted to major political, societal, or current affairs topics." notably during the “upcoming elections”.

A mainstay of France 2's "8 p.m. news" for eight years, Anne-Sophie Lapix will step down as anchor of the newscast on June 26, following France Télévisions' decision not to renew her contract for the following season. The channel has not yet announced her successor.

"We wish him every success in this segment of information, reception, analysis and debate," declared RTL's general manager, Jonathan Curiel, in an internal message addressed to the group's staff and consulted by Agence France-Presse.

Mr. Curiel said he "warmly thanked Yves [Calvi] and his team for this season on 18/20" and said he was "talking with them about next season." For the past year, he has hosted the time slot with journalist Agnès Bonfillon, after hosting the RTL morning show for ten years.

France's second-largest radio station also announced another major recruitment in mid-May: Marc-Olivier Fogiel, who ran BFM-TV for five years and will be returning behind the microphone for a daily morning interview next season.
